Travel the high plateaus and craggy peaks of the
Beartooth Mountains, the alpine meadows and granite peaks along
the Continental Divide (where Lewis & Clark crossed over into
Idaho) and a rugged smaller range called the Pioneers. Hundreds
of lakes lie among the alpine tundra and high plateaus of the northern
Rockies. This country is starkly beautiful, and extremely fragile.
Wildlife that you may see includes moose, mule deer,
mountain goats and bighorn sheep. The wilderness is a geological
showcase of contrasting rock types, glaciation, and active land
movement. The peaks we climb in Montana will approach 12,000 feet
and are selected to allow minimal use of technical equipment (and
therefore lighter packs). An Outward Bound experience in Montana
is something you can't forget.
