Research Topics of Interest

Research topics that are of potential interest to Outward Bound include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Process research (course elements, course types, course lengths, etc.)
  • How does adventure and challenge impact dopamine production levels?
  • How does a course experience develop students’ cognitive abilities (problem solving, goal setting, etc.)?
  • Is there a correlation between physical activity/adventure education and a decrease in substance abuse?
  • What is the effect of social/emotional learning on impulse control?
  • What is the correlation between a students’ perceived level of challenge and their personal growth on course?
  • How does age/generation impact a students’ personal growth on course (specifically looking at Millennials compared to other generations)?
  • How do struggling teens courses with a parent involvement component impact parenting abilities and parents’ relationship with their child?
