Why did you choose to join Outward Bound? Because there are few other organizations I could work for in which I can be so immersed in nature and have such a profound impact on the lives of my students.
What are your favorite moments on course? 1. Gorging myself on wild raspberries by the side of the road. 2. Huddling in lightning drill near timberline shouting out animal names by letter (aardvark, ant, anaconda, etc) with my students over the booming thunder. 3. Flying my pocket kite at a 12,000ft pass during lunch. 4. All of the pin ceremonies.
Tell us about a recent accomplishment or adventure: This past year I spent six months in Bolivia teaching environmental education in Spanish, backpacking in the Andes, climbing a 20,000ft peak, and cruising the Amazon on a cargo boat shipping cement.
What's a little known fact about you? I spent an entire night in a walk-in refrigerator (on purpose!) I didn't sleep very well.
Do you get any specific cravings while you are on course? A hot shower.
