Why did you choose to join Outward Bound? I wanted to be a part of an organization that gave me so much as a student. I did an Outward Bound sailing course three years ago in the Florida Keys.
What's the most rewarding aspect of working for Outward Bound? There are many! Graduations are very special. It is a great feeling to help a student through the enrollment process, and then to see them graduate at the end of course. There is nothing like the look of a weathered, accomplished, and exhausted student at the end of course – you just know they have had an experience of a lifetime!
Tell us about a favorite conversation with a potential student: Before the students go out on course, I give them a call to check in. I once had the pleasure of speaking with one young lady who was so excited to get out on course that she made a special “Outward Bound” calendar. Each day she would mark it until she only had “eleven days left!” Her enthusiasm was contagious.
Tell us about a recent accomplishment or adventure: Landing this job in the admissions department was my latest and greatest!
What's a little known fact about you? When I was a little girl, my mom and dad called me Katie Bomber and I had a bowl haircut.
